Planning Your Museum Career: Professional
Development Organizations & Strategies

Where will you be in five years? Are you so buried in your daily tasks
that you feel that you have no time to think about your next career move?
Get information and tips from experienced colleagues and develop a professional
development game plan for yourself.
Melissa Rosengard has served as the Executive Director of the Western
Museums Association since January 1998. She will speak about the benefits
of joining professional development organizations.
Dana Powell, Ed.D., has worked in the arts and education for the past
15 years. A former President of Cultural Connections' Board of Directors,
Dana will share tricks of the trade that you don't find in professional
publications or in graduate school and conduct a workshop on setting
professional development goals.

The Cantor Arts Center is located at the intersection of Museum
Way
and Lomita Drive on the Stanford campus, northwest of The Oval
and
the Main Quad. Lomita Drive and Roth Way are accessible from
Campus Drive, and Museum Way is accessible from Palm Drive. |

Directions
|
From Highway 101: Take the Embarcadero exit west and cross El
Camino Real. Embarcadero becomes Galvez Drive. Turn right on Campus
Drive until you reach Palm Drive. Turn left on Palm Drive and continue
until you reach Museum Way. Turn right on Museum Way and you will
be facing the main entrance to the Center.
From Highway 280: Take
Alpine Road exit east. Turn right on Junipero Serra, and turn
left on Campus Drive. Follow Campus Drive until you reach Museum
Way.
Turn right on Museum Way and you will be facing the main entrance
to The Center.
Parking: Limited metered parking is available along
Lomita Drive in front of the Center. There is a parking structure
with metered parking on Roth Way near the Center. |
