Program Announcement
Exploring Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) Strategies

IBL is a form of teaching which involves the teacher as a ‘guide
on the side’ rather than a ‘sage on stage’. In other
words, students guide their discovery, by formulating questions and figuring
out how to answer those questions. In this way, students are invested
in their learning and are more motivated to get results.

Join us for an afternoon of stimulating discussion and
inquiry based exploration in the beautiful Marin Headlands. Learn more
about IBL, why it is a valuable approach to teaching, and how it can be
utilized to engage participants in your museum programs. Please wear comfortable
shoes, as we will be walking outdoors.

(Headlands Institute is one of the campuses of the Yosemite National
Institutes.) Please note that no public transportation is provided
to Headlands Institute except on Sundays.
Parking: Program to take place in Cypress Room.
Ample parking is available along Bunker Road, which runs along Rodeo
Lagoon. Limited parking also available in the East parking lot.
To get there, take the road toward the Marine Mammal Center, then
take your first left, and go down the hill into the parking lot.
